Fragmenting Arrow Tips

History[edit | edit source]

Fragmenting arrow tips are a recent invention of engineering first used in Granthel. They turned up in the murders of several middle and middle-upper class members before the War of Forsaken Faiths.

Usage[edit | edit source]

An arrow with a fragmenting tip is fired like any other arrow. Due to the weight of the arrow, it can be a little awkward to fire if one is not accustomed to it. The material from which it is made also gives the arrow less overall impact. The weight and potential awkwardness are due to the compact tinkering within the arrow: upon any significant impact, three prongs jut out from the arrow and go through fleshy surfaces.

Fragmenting arrow tips are useless against even the most basic armors, such as leather. Unlike most other arrows, this variety impacts with less force, making the fragmenting tip useless. The effect is dampened against creatures with tough hides, such as werewolves, or resistance to impacts.

However, it is quite effective against humans without armor. This makes the fragmenting arrow tip a weapon for killers and murderers, as it is able to penetrate the body and split in order to mince internal organs.

Commonality[edit | edit source]

Fragmenting arrow tips are a common item in black markets, especially those of Granthel. Otherwise, they are exceedingly rare, and few would have the knowledge or reason to craft them.
