History[edit | edit source]
While only considered the capital of Taurum for the past 400 years, Toch has been home to effective warriors and leaders for over a millennia. However, with recent military difficulties, its status as capital and the face of Taurum has come under question by provincial rivals.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Toch is split by a small river, the Ulfor, which flows from the Paphrenelies toward the coast. The terrain is rocky and inhospitable, and agricultural yields from the lands surrounding the river are, surprisingly, poor.
Toch resembles the appearance of a large warcamp. Permanent structures, such as wells and arenas, are surrounded by training yards and masses of erected tents. The feeling, overall, could be described as claustrophobic, and there is little privacy to gain.
Government[edit | edit source]
The Greater Forum of Taurum has no reign on activity in Toch, even though Toch is widely considered to be the capital of Taurum. The government has its own military hierarchy and authoritarian brand of power gained from wisdom and combat strength.
Law[edit | edit source]
Laws are harsh, and punishments are harsher. However, no punishments aim to disable an individual permanently and there exist no jails or prisons. Whippings, work sentences, and remediation to the victim or victim's family are common punishments.
Economy[edit | edit source]
Historically, Toch used to provide disciplined and combat-hardened soldiers respected throughout the continent of Auros. Now, with an ever-diminishing number of cheaper slaves charging in the front lines, Toch mainly provides mercenaries and legionaires supported by conscripted slaves to enforce law in more restless parts of Ulyssa.
Toch's economy has become smaller as fewer generations choose to uphold the province's history, preferring the opportunities for wealth in neighboring provinces or abroad.
