House Whitehallow primarily serves as the stewards of Woods Hall, having served that role for over 150 years.
History[edit | edit source]
The founder of House Whitehallow was a talented Earth Mage from the Crags by the name of Aaron Whitehallow. Aaron was determined that the Arbor would prove to be a powerful territory in the future, due to its plethora of natural resources and relative security due to natural barriers. Thus, he attempted to settle and build influence there early on. Buying a large plot of land in Wood's Hall, Aaron pledged his services as a steward and adviser to the then current ruling house, House Talnor. For generations House Whitehallow have proudly served as stewards of Wood's Hall, never truly advancing. It is here they have sat and waited as numerous house have risen and fallen, diligently serving and ruling over the village of Verdant Vale.
Significance[edit | edit source]
While definitely still a very minor player on the Alenthylian political stage, House Whitehallow has risen to some minor notoriety these past few decades, namely through the union of Leopold Whitehallow and Nicole Redgard, an awkward noblewoman with a much more powerful last name than Leopold's. Leopold has been slowly manipulating and may be poised to eventually have his son take control of Wood's Hall.
On a more local level, House Whitehallow controls and protects the town of Verdant Vale. A middling sized farming and foresting community on the edge of Wood's Hall and Nature's Retreat responsible for providing the rather scarce grain supplies of the Arbor.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
House Whitehallow finds itself the butt of many jokes in the Arbor. Almost considered the "Old Maid" of the Arbor in that as a house, they have done very little to elevate their station beyond stewardship of one of the most worthless territories the Arbor has to offer. Otherwise, they are friendly with House Tucker, doing their best to serve as a guiding hand and helping the budding house learn how to rule. House Redgard is a close ally, as Jon Redgard served as a mentor of sorts to Leopold Whitehallow during his youth. In spite of their low status, there are members of House Whitehallow in service of both Duke Roland Vincent and Duke Simon Morrigan.
Notable Members[edit | edit source]
Lord Leopold Francis Whitehallow Dietrich von Holter I
Current head of the Whitehallow Household, spends the vast majority of his time at the side of whoever is in control of the Wood's Hall at the time. One of the more ambitious heads of house to come forth in recent years,Lord Leopold intends to utilize his children as pieces in a game of chess to advance their family out of their longstanding isolation within the eastern Arbor, where most previous heads of the house were content to be left alone and focus on their duty in keeping Wood's Hall maintained. Lord Leopold is also notably a very talented Geomancer, similar to the house founder, Aaron Whitehallow
Lady Nicole Marabelle Whitehallow
A mid-ranking noblewoman from Anontelle, Lady Whitehallow was a member of a family famous for its powerful contributions to the Silver Legion. However, her shy, awkward nature and general reclusiveness made her prove difficult to make a match for, especially compared to her siblings. Her father became desperate to marry her off, as she was his eldest and he was getting on in years. This frantic search for a suitor ended when he met a young Leopold at a social event held in the eastern fringes of the Crags. He took a liking to this Arbor nobleman and his drivel to raise his house’s social status from its humble beginnings and decided to take him under his wing and mentor in the finer point of political manipulation. As a graduation of sorts, Leopold was permitted to marry Lady Nicole, a woman far above his social standing and thus, the awkward and reclusive young woman was whisked away to the Arbor and away from the cutthroat Antonellan social stage.
